The short version. Appunti is built to keep your data yours. Your recordings, transcripts, and AI study materials stay on your device and, if you enable it, in your own private iCloud account. We — the developer — do not collect, see, store, sell, or share any of your data, and the app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking.

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy describes how the iOS and macOS app Appunti (bundle identifier com.danxnu.voicescribe, the “App”) handles information. The App is a voice recorder with on-device transcription and AI-assisted study tools (summaries, key points, chapters, and flashcards).

2. Information we do not collect

We do not operate any servers that receive your content. Specifically, we do not collect or have access to:

Your audio recordings or their transcripts.
The AI-generated summaries, chapters, or flashcards created from your recordings.
Your name, email, contacts, or precise location.
Analytics, usage tracking, advertising identifiers, or behavioral profiles.

3. Data stored on your device

When you make a recording, the audio file and its transcript are saved locally on your device using Apple’s on-device storage (Core Data). This content remains under your control and is removed when you delete the recording or uninstall the App.

4. On-device transcription & AI

Transcription uses Apple’s Speech Recognition, and the study features (summaries, key points, chapters, flashcards) are generated by Apple’s on-device foundation models (Apple Intelligence). This processing happens on your device. Your recordings are not sent to us or to any third-party AI service for this purpose.

5. iCloud sync & sharing (optional)

If you enable iCloud sync, your recordings and related data are synced through your own private iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit. This data is stored in your personal iCloud and is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your private iCloud database.

If you choose to share a recording with another person, that content is shared through Apple’s CloudKit sharing directly with the people you select. Sharing is entirely optional and initiated by you.

6. Permissions we request

Microphone — required to record audio. Used only while you are recording.
Speech Recognition — used to transcribe your recordings into text.

You can review or revoke these permissions at any time in the device Settings.

7. Third parties

The App does not integrate any third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. The only external platform involved is Apple (iCloud / CloudKit), and only when you enable iCloud features. We do not sell or share your data with anyone.

8. Children’s privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because no data is collected by us, the App can be used without creating an account or providing personal information.

9. Data retention & deletion

Because your data lives on your device and in your iCloud, you control its retention. Delete a recording in the App to remove it, or uninstall the App to remove its local data. To remove synced data, delete it from any synced device or manage it in your iCloud settings.

10. Your rights

Since we do not collect or hold your personal data, there is nothing for us to export or erase on your behalf — you already have full, direct control over all of your content within the App and your iCloud account.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
